Here is a title that calls out to you: clean your kitchen easily? And what’s more, quickly? No, because a lot happens in the kitchen: from bread crumbs to grease spills, it often becomes the most daunting room to clean. Unless you adapt a few tricks to your daily routine for simple but effective maintenance until the big spring cleaning!
TIP N°1: WASH YOUR KITCHEN AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE
To clean your kitchen without exhausting yourself, set some (small) goals.
The essentials to be washed every day: tables and worktops, cooking plates if you have used them… No more than five minutes!
The essentials to be washed every week: the floor, the microwave… We give ourselves 15 minutes!
The task of the week: we choose a different mission each time (fridge, oven, kettle, cupboard…) to turn the maintenance of its kitchen.
You don’t have to spend your evenings or weekends doing this, so you stick to it! Seemingly nothing, this daily cleaning and this rotation for appliances or storage allow to keep a clean and orderly kitchen. And when we feel motivated, we start the spring cleaning to wash the walls, the windows… But it will be less hard and less long since the rest will be ok !
TIP N°2 : CHOOSE A PRODUCT “ALMOST ALL-IN-ONE” FOR YOUR KITCHEN
A single household product to clean everything, it can save time, right? There are many natural ingredients that can be used to remove grease, stains and dirt at the same time. Not bad! It’s up to you to choose which one you’ll use to clean your kitchen. Here are some suggestions:
Household black soap: to scour without attacking, to degrease, to make shine… Its neutral formula is suitable for all types of surfaces, even the most fragile or dirty: tiles, linoleum, marble, oven rack, hood… It can be used pure or diluted.
Marseille soap: it has the same advantages as black soap! It can also remove acidic stains on tiles or stubborn stains such as coffee, chocolate, fruit and vegetable traces…
Baking soda: it is also a real Swiss Army knife! Its small grains can strip and loosen dirt residues without scratching surfaces, even delicate ones like glass ceramic plates. It can also shine and eliminate odors. Combined with white vinegar, it works wonders against certain stains or to remove limescale.
White vinegar: with it, get ready to clean, degrease, descale, deodorize, stain, sanitize… It can be used pure or mixed with water. It can also be boiled for more efficiency. Afterwards, it is forgotten on stone (marble, travertine, slate, granite, limestone …), raw wood or refrigerator joints. Check the materials of your tiles, worktop or sink before adopting it!
The last piece of good news is that you can use these products for the rest of your home. Don’t hesitate to simplify your life!
TIP #3: ADOPT QUICK INSTRUCTIONS FOR EQUIPMENT
Are you tempted by simple, effective and sometimes unexpected ways to clean your microwave, oven or refrigerator? We have prepared a selection that will change your daily maintenance!
CLEANING THE MICROWAVE
Fill a bowl with 2/3 water and 1/3 white vinegar.
Place in your oven and heat until boiling.
Let the steam work for 30 seconds, then remove the container.
Wipe it off with a cloth and it’s gone in a flash.
Bonus tip: Have a fresh lemon lying around in the fruit bin? Its juice can replace that vinegar and water mixture.
CLEAN THE TRADITIONAL OVEN
Pour 6 tablespoons of baking soda into a bowl.
Add 2 tablespoons of water.
Mix to a paste.
Apply it to the walls of your oven.
Leave it on overnight. That’s when bicarbonate works for you!
The next day, simply scrub and rinse it off with a damp sponge.
Bonus tip: Baking soda can also clean oven racks! Place them in your bathtub or the bottom of your shower tray. Sprinkle them with baking soda. Sprinkle them with boiling water and leave them for a few hours. Again, the result is amazing.
CLEAN THE FRIDGE
Mix white vinegar and water in equal parts.
Soak a sponge and pass it on the interior walls and shelves.
Wipe with a cloth. That’s it!
Extra tip: Fill a bowl with 20cl of white vinegar and place it on one of the shelves (at the bottom so as not to spill it): it will serve as a deodorizer for your fridge!
